Life happens and ultimately this is just a video game. Right now you're fine passing judgement pretending hemoraging players is ok because it's not you, you're still on the inside of the bubble judging people who leave the game as the bubble gets smaller. ![]() The dota 2 community can keep passing judgement until there are 2 people left arguing about which one should leave. The point I'm getting at here is it's a slippery witch hunt. I'm sure you haven't led a perfect life, does that mean you're garbage tier? People aren't just permanently cry babies and people aren't just permanently "garbage tier". I might be a "cry baby" today but was I a cry baby for the last 9 years where I've said nothing about this topic? Because I posted this am I now a cry baby that you think should leave? The problem with views like yours is that everyone is something different depending on the day. If dota 2 becomes niche it WILL affect you at least in your enjoyment of the game itself. With less players comes less money, less money comes less support, less support means fewer patches and less content for you to enjoy. YOU specifically may not care because it is difficult to see past your own bubble how hemoraging players will affect you, but it does. The games health however is overall what suffers. I'm sure you'd rather have 100K players, or 50k quality players, or even 5k or maybe you'd be fine if you had literally 100 quality players. So, if experience is what you're after, you literally can't get much more experienced than me in terms of how long I've been around. I've owned this game since before it even came out (I was in the beta). Should i follow the crowd? Should dave east become more pop? ZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzĪnd you are by all accounts a new player and you want me to read your wall of text like it matters and speaks of experience? Ummmmmmmmm no? Justin bieber has higher number of followers than dave east. I rather have 250k real players than 1 million with 90% garbage tier We dont want cry babies, hackers, boosters, or any of those types. Your last paragraph was "cant be picky not enough players" which is nonsense. I'm not complaining about the existence of low priority or even that I got it necessarily.Īlso it's ironic you end with that suggestion. you obviously didn't read the post because nothing you said has anything to do with my points. The community only has like 300,000 people left and dropping from steam trends (compared to LoL that is pretty fragile). It no longer has the luxury of pretending not to care if people leave over rediculous punishments. That is not good, that just takes away the will for people to play it at all.Īnd despite what much of the community will say, dota 2 needs to try to convince people to keep playing. Requiring people to win 4 games just adds ambiguity to how long it will actually last. Games are just as toxic as they were when it first came out. Unfortunately that is happening left and right in dota 2.ĭota's strict jail style policies have done literally nothing for the community. When a game stops being fun people leave. You have to eventually realize that players are playing dota 2 to ultimately have fun. Basically folding their arms and closing their eyes as the flames engulf the house. The community pretends like it doesn't care if people stop playing as the community shrinks drastically in size. ![]() And it will one day be you.ĭota 2 is losing players quickly (that is not hearsay but fact, judging by steams own player count metrics) for many reasons, without a doubt a small percentage of those people quitting forever are faced with the daunting prospect of potentially never getting out of low priority. Some may say that's a good thing, telling people like me 'good just leave' but the thing is you need us. The only thing low priority does in dota 2 is make people want to quite the game. LoL takes the approach of realizing they are just a video game and not a jail sentence by just forcing you to play 5 low priority matches without leaving. Depending on your team that can take a very long time. However having to win 4 games is a little rediculous. ![]() I realize abandoning games is bad (in my case I lost internet connection a couple times in a row due to comcast supposedly fixing the issue but it not actually being fixed.). Dota 2 steps on that fine line between realizing it is a video game though. Low priority is abysmal and it's mostly deserved.
